The 20-20-20 rule<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>This rule gives your eyes frequent breaks and helps lower your risk of dry eye and eye strain.<\/p>\n<p>After about 20 minutes of screen time or doing other types of close-up work, focus on an object at least 20 feet away for 20 at least seconds.<\/p>\n<p>This gives the eyes a much needed rest and helps them relax.<\/p>\n<h3><b>2. The clock exercise<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>This exercise helps relieve strain on overworked eye muscles and can prevent headaches and eye pain, among other symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine a large analog clock a few feet in front of you. Keep your head still and move your eyes to the imaginary 6, then to the imaginary 12.<\/p>\n<p>Keep moving your eyes to the opposite pairs on the clock \u2014 3\/9, 4\/10, 5\/11 and so on. Hold your gaze for a second or two on each number before moving on to the next one. Do this for 4-5 minutes.<\/p>\n<h3><b>3. Screen position<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends placing a computer monitor 20 to 28 inches away from your eyes. The top of the computer should be at eye level or just below for maximum eye comfort. Glare filters can also help you see better by reducing the amount of glare created by digital devices.<\/p>\n<p>Another contributor to eye strain is poor sitting posture. Your chair should be situated so that your feet are flat on the floor. For additional comfort, use an angled footrest.<\/p>\n<h3><b>4.
