It can also be spread by sharing makeup and wearing contact lenses that aren&#8217;t your own or aren&#8217;t properly cleaned.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Common symptoms of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/guide-to-pediatric-eye-conditions\/a-guide-to-eye-infections\/\">bacterial conjunctivitis<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Tearing<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Swelling<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Burning or morning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>How to treat bacterial conjunctivitis<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Your eye doctor may prescribe antibiotic eye drops or ointments.<\/p>\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/guide-to-pediatric-eye-conditions\/a-guide-to-eye-infections\/\">bacterial conjunctivitis may improve<\/a> after three or four days of treatment, but to prevent a recurrence, patients must complete the entire course of antibiotics.<\/p>\n<p>In the most severe cases, topical steroid drops may also be administered to relieve
