Fortunately, optical correction or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/vision-therapy\/guide-to-vision-therapy\/\">vision therapy<\/a> during childhood can treat many vision problems.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Vision problems in children<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Outside of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/guide-to-pediatric-eye-conditions\/what-is-myopia\/\">myopia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/guide-to-pediatric-eye-conditions\/what-is-long-sightedness\/\">hyperopia<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/guide-to-pediatric-eye-conditions\/what-is-astigmatism\/\">astigmatism<\/a>, the most common vision problems in children are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/a-guide-to-eye-turns\/strabismus-crossed-eyes\/strabismus-faqs\/\">strabismus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/vision-therapy\/vision-therapy-for-lazy-eye\/lazy-eye-faqs\/\">amblyopia<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/vision-therapy\/vision-therapy-for-children\/convergence-insufficiency-2\/convergence-insufficiency-faqs\/\">convergence insufficiency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Strabismus<\/b> \u2013 also known as cross-eye, is a misalignment of the eyes and can be a cause of amblyopia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Amblyopia <\/b>\u2013 also known as \u2018lazy eye,\u2019 impairs the communication between the brain and one eye, resulting in decreased vision in the affected eye. It\u2019s the most common cause of vision loss in children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Convergence Insufficiency<\/b> \u2013 when the eyes do not work together as a team, leading to reading, learning or attention issues.
