refractive error that occurs when the eye grows too long (axial length), or the cornea and\/or eye lens are too curved relative to the eye\u2019s length.<\/p>\n<p>A myopic eye focuses an image in front of the retina, instead of directly on the retina, causing blurry distance vision.<\/p>\n<p>Myopia is generally corrected with prescription glasses or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/general-practice-optometry\/optical\/guide-to-contact-lenses\/\">contact lenses.<\/a> The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/general-practice-optometry\/guide-to-eye-exams\/eye-exams\/how-is-my-optical-prescription-measured\/\">optical prescription<\/a> is written with a negative sign,
