You are the most qualified professional to notice any learning problems in the classroom.<\/p>\n<h2>What every teacher should know about their students\u2019 vision<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>80% of all learning is obtained through vision.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>60% of students identified as having a \u201clearning difficulty\u201d have undetected vision problems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Children may not recognize their vision difficulties because they have \u201calways seen this way\u201d, and gradual changes may go unnoticed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is a false belief that because a child sees an eye chart across the room clearly, that they have perfect vision. A measure of &#8220;20\/20&#8221; is simply the ability to see clearly from 20 feet away, which has little to do with reading, attention and the other tasks required for successful academic performances.<\/p>\n<h2><b>School vision screenings are limited<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>School vision screenings might detect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/what-is-myopia\/\">myopia<\/a> or a <i>significant <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/vision-therapy-for-lazy-eye\/lazy-eye-faqs\/\">lazy eye<\/a>, but many other vision problems can be missed. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/vision-for-school\/are-school-vision-screenings-effective\/\">A school vision screening is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye examination from an eye doctor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vision screenings are not diagnostic and can only identify <em>some<\/em> vision problems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Most vision screenings cannot detect problems with: focusing, eye tracking, or depth perception.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A comprehensive eye exam should include tests to determine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/what-is-myopia\/\">nearsightedness<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/what-is-long-sightedness\/\">farsightedness<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optometrists.org\/childrens-vision\/what-is-astigmatism\/\">astigmatism<\/a>, eye coordination and eye muscle function, eye focusing abilities and visual processing.<\/p>\n<p>If
